    Mental Health Scholarship To raise awareness as to the causes, consequences and treatment of addiction, Seasons in Malibu, a luxury addiction treatment center, is seeking to reward essay applicants $1,500 in scholarships- for students entering college or already enrolled in a higher education institution.

    The aim of the scholarship is to bring attention as to why addiction, in various forms, is becoming more prevalent in our society and how can we address the issue of an increasing number of people dealing with addiction.

    The scholarship is open to any major who can shed light on this issue. It may be a personal story that you can share or a more researched essay.

    Winter 2024 Scholarship Winner: Gracie Giron – Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School

    Submission Requirements

    Applicants must be currently enrolled in either High School, University or College as a full-time student. There will be 2 contest submission dates. To be eligible for the contest submit your essay by one the submission dates.

    Round 1: January 1st – May 31st
    Winners Announced July 1st

    Round 2: July 1st – November 30th
    Winners Announced December 31st

    • Why do you believe we as a nation are dealing with an addiction crisis?
    • What are the consequences of this addiction for the individual and society?
    • How can we remedy the crisis on both the individual and societal level?

    Frequently Asked Questions

    You may apply for either or both rounds. If you apply for Round 1 and aren’t selected, you’re welcome to revise your essay and apply again for Round 2. Each application is considered independently.

    There is no strict minimum or maximum length requirement for the essay. However, we recommend keeping your essay between 800-1500 words to thoroughly address all three required questions while remaining concise and focused.

    Applicants must be currently enrolled as full-time students in High School, University, or College.

    There are two rounds for submission:

    • Round 1: January 1st – May 31st (Winners announced July 1)
    • Round 2: July 1st – November 30th (Winners announced December 31)

    Your essay must address the three questions listed:

    • Why do you believe we as a nation are dealing with an addiction crisis?
    • What are the consequences of this addiction for the individual and society?
    • How can we remedy the crisis on both the individual and societal level?

    Yes, you may share a personal story or write a more research-based essay. Both approaches are welcome as long as they address the required questions.

    No, this scholarship is open to students of all majors who can effectively address the topic of addiction.

    The scholarship award is $1,500.

    Essays are evaluated based on originality, insight, clarity, and thoughtfulness in addressing the three required questions.

    Winners will be announced on July 1 (for Round 1) and December 31 (for Round 2). Winners will be notified directly using the contact information provided in their application.

    Your personal information will only be used for scholarship administration purposes and required tax reporting. We will not share your information with other entities or use it for marketing purposes.
