From: Cincinnai , Ohio
Chemical health and wellbeing have been a lifelong passion of mine. I have several family members and close personal friends that are currently battling addiction. This is why I have chosen The University of Cincinnati’s Chemical Health Program.
As a student that has seen a lot of addiction in my life, I am egger to understand, and get more knowledge on helping others that have struggled like my family members and friends have.
Going to school and being part of a great recovery community is a privilege and I find great value in working to promote recovery through advocacy, education and demonstrating the power and proof of long-term recovery.
I am driven to be of service to recovery communities nationwide. Additionally, I want to help facilitate connection and support for students across the country by providing knowledge, and real live stories that will benefit others success.
Assisting the combatting of the pervasive stigma surrounding addiction is deep in my heart. I plan to make my recovery story louder and more powerful than my family’s addiction story’s.
A scholarship award would provide me the financial assistance I need in order to pay for my educational expenses and be of service to others pursuing a career in the Addiction Counseling field. Furthermore, a scholarship would allow me to continue to stay focused on understanding what addiction is and, knowing how to help others struggling like my family is and was.
My kind and compassionate demeanor helps those who are just beginning their journey into recovery to feel safe, understood, and a part of something larger than themselves. I am confident that I will be an asset to a field that is in desperate need of capable, driven, and highly trained individuals who will help to make recovery communities a safer place.
My commitment and dedication to the Addiction Counseling and Recovery field is to engage and encourage others struggling with substance use and mental health disorders uncover a fortitude that will initiate and prepare them for their own incredible journey into recovery.
